The Personal, the Process, The Gathered
One of my favorite signs of spring in New England are the elm tree samaras. They can be collected for food and give a delicate green flavor with a soft, slippery texture. They soothe and calm the tissues and are tiny little treasures not only of health but the promise of spring. I often collect small branches of elm. Early in the season when the sap begins to flow, the inner bark is moistened and slips easily from the heartwood, making it easier work of peeling back segments to try for medicine and teas.
The greenness and earthy notes of this perfume are balanced by bright and cheerful notes of hand tinctured Makrut lime leaves, lemon verbena, and just a hint of honeydew melon rinds. Although this perfume is deeply connected to nature in its invention, it wears clean and crisp, easily a fragrance worn to work, meetings, brunches, and in a professional setting.
